Dear Friends,

The beginning of a new year often brings expectations of fresh starts, new goals, and hope for what lies ahead. For those who are grieving, however, the turning of the calendar can also feel heavy, unfamiliar, and overwhelming. Loss does not end with the new year, and the love we carry remains. In this new season, we are not asked to rush healing or leave our grief behind. Instead, we are invited to keep our eyes on Jesus and move forward one step at a time. In grief, faith may look less like certainty and more like quiet trust—trust that He walks with us even when the path is unclear.

Keeping our eyes on Jesus does not mean ignoring our pain or pretending we are strong when we are not. Rather, it means bringing our sorrow honestly to Him. Jesus Himself wept at the tomb of Lazarus, reminding us that grief is not a lack of faith, but an expression of love. When we turn to Him through prayer, the Sacraments, Scripture, and moments of quiet reflection, we allow His presence to sustain us. Caring for ourselves while grieving is not selfish; it is an act of trust in God’s grace at work within us.

If a “resolution” feels necessary this year, consider simply placing one foot in front of the other while practicing patience and compassion toward yourself. This may look like getting out of bed on a difficult morning, accepting help from others, or giving yourself permission to step back when needed. It may also mean nurturing your spiritual life through prayer and reflection. Self-care strengthens us for the journey ahead, reminding us that healing unfolds in God’s time—not according to a deadline. Each small step forward, no matter how simple, is a step taken with Him.

As we enter this new year, we entrust both our sorrow and our hope to the Lord. His presence surrounds us—in prayer, in Scripture, in the kindness of others, and in moments of unexpected peace. By keeping our eyes on Jesus, opening our hearts to His mercy, and moving forward with care, we allow healing to unfold in its own time, knowing we are never alone.

With care,

Renee Weese

Word of the Month- Reset CCAirwaves

Send us a textA new year doesn’t magically wipe the slate clean, but it does offer an opening. We take that opening and talk about what a real “reset” looks like when life is messy, when grief is present, and when faith asks us to slow down instead of speed up. Rather than chasing resolutions, we lean into realignment—choosing presence, compassion, and intention as the path forward. Do you have a topic you'd like us to discuss?
