Monthly Reflection
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the very first edition of Comfort Corner! I am honored to share this new space with you as a place of reflection, encouragement, and gentle support in the midst of life’s grief journeys.
My name is Renee Weese, and I will be serving as the Corporate Administrative Coordinator for the Catholic Cemeteries Association. As I step into this role following Rhonda Abrams’ retirement, I hope you will feel the same warmth and care that she poured into this ministry.
This month, we will be exploring two meaningful topics: the different types of grief and the seasons of grief. Grief touches each of us differently. Some may experience anticipatory grief as they prepare for a loss, others may carry complicated grief that feels difficult to move through, while some may feel disenfranchised grief when their loss isn’t fully recognized by others. No matter what form grief takes, each experience is valid and worthy of compassion.
Just as the seasons of the year shift and change, so too do the seasons of grief. There may be winters of heaviness, springs of hope, summers of connection, and autumns of transition. These seasons don’t follow a neat timeline, we may move back and forth between them, but honoring where we are in the moment allows us to approach our grief with patience and gratitude.
September is also Suicide Awareness Month, which reminds us of the importance of listening, supporting one another, and reaching out for help when needed. For those grieving a loss to suicide, please know your grief matters deeply, and for those struggling, your life holds value.
Join us for our grief support group on September 21st. Gathering together can be one of the most healing steps in grief, offering comfort in community and hope in shared stories.
With care,
Renee Weese
