Summer is a time of thrill, adventure, and unforgettable memories for children. Although, for those children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or caregiver, the summer can also be a tender experience. In these challenging times, summer camps designed specifically for grieving children offer a safe haven, a place where they can find comforting and healing connections with others who share similar experiences.
Summer camps for grieving children create a unique community of fun and therapy. It offers them a chance to experience nature, field trips, sports, arts & crafts, and more while also healing and making friends with peers who share similar grieving experiences. Expressing your emotions and building friendships may be difficult for children who have experienced a loss, especially when surrounded by others who have not experienced that same feeling. These summer camps teach children healthy ways to express their emotions, regain hope, feel accepted, and gain lifelong friendships and memories. The summer camps for grieving children mentioned below are professionally led and age appropriate that prioritize a therapeutical way to have fun. We have highlighted a few summer camps in Ohio that focus on helping grieving children.
