Faith. Family. Compassion. Hope. Trust. These five values of the CCA are a large part of my who I am. That is alignment, and this passion has helped me to take pride in my work for such a meaningful organization. As the CCA’s Marketing Intern, I was tasked with a variety of projects. This internship has taught me that when you put God first, anything is possible. I am so grateful for my time here, because the CCA has provided me with an experience of a lifetime, and I am eternally thankful for that!
When I got hired for this internship, I knew I wanted to be involved with something related to my Catholic faith. Now, a couple months later, I am very proud of the person that I’ve grown into. My faith had always been important, but I never really knew how to “Take Action” on it. At mass, we hear homilies about messages that resonate with us. However, I lacked the next step of action after hearing the priest’s message. The CCA has given me an opportunity to “Take Action” in my faith, and it has helped me grow in numerous ways.
Spiritual Growth
Being able to practice my Catholic faith every day of the week gave me a unique perspective at what it means to be a child of God. Throughout my time at the CCA, I gained a new insight into what “living the faith” actually means. I learned firsthand, how impactful God’s grace is, and how important it is to preserve our loved one’s legacies forever. This has led to be a better Catholic, and person of faith, which is so meaningful to me.
Personal Growth
Recently, I’ve seen myself mature in a variety of positive ways. I’ve seen myself grow to be better at time management, written communication, and critical thinking. In positive ways, I’ve been challenged to think outside of the box, and I am very appreciative of that. I’ve become better at prioritizing, and understanding how to organize things in an efficient way. Above all, becoming a better learner has really motivated me to have the “student of the game” attitude. Working on a variety of writing projects has taught me how I can better communicate in everyday life with a variety of people. These meaningful skills have prompted me to better understand how I can serve others daily.
Professional Growth
The past few months have challenged me to really think about what energizes me. Through daily tasks, I was especially motivated at the idea of reaching people where they are. This has taken my excitement of helping others to another level. I am really intrigued about the idea of storytelling. To me, marketing is all about storytelling, and I have learned a lot about the promotional storytelling aspect in my role. I took a lot of pride in creating promotional plans that will catch people’s attention, but that will also add value in our lives. That was the professional meaning that has led me to become a better marketer altogether.
I am eternally grateful to my supervisor, Paige Muttillo. Paige’s leadership has inspired me to be organized, always willing to learn, and present in the moment. Paige has taught me more about marketing than I could have ever imagined. Her willingness to teach me new skills is the similar style of leadership that I look to carry into my professional endeavors.
The CCA staff is a living example of what happens when you “Win with People.” Suzi Richter and Barb Delgado welcomed me with open arms, and the funny stories/memories made will always be cherished. Alex Hansel helped me further my knowledge of graphic design, and how to visually think through design projects. Joel Hansel taught me how to be detailed with every project. Thank you to the Catholic Cemeteries Association for the experience of a lifetime. I am so grateful for the energy, passion, and helpfulness everyone has shown to help me grow on multiple levels.
